This Week..

Two issues went out this week, both part of the same thread. The first walked through the actual setup: Obsidian plus Claude Code, five minutes, the history behind why it works (Vannevar Bush's 1945 Memex idea, and what Andrej Karpathy's LLM Wiki finally solved that Bush couldn't). The second, "The Four Pillars That Make an AI Memory System Work," went deeper into the mechanics: Vault, Logic, Source, Platform, the four pieces that actually keep a knowledge base useful instead of turning into another dead Notion doc.

Things You Should Take Away

If you only remember one thing from both: the rules are what make the system work, not the folder structure. Anyone can dump files into a vault. What keeps an AI from making judgment calls you didn't ask for is a Logic file that draws hard boundaries, what's read-only, what gets edited, what never changes. The second thing worth carrying forward: raw and source have to stay separate. Get information in fast and messy, keep the source of truth clean and controlled. Mixing those two is how most personal knowledge bases quietly rot.

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Week

Honestly, I'm looking forward to this newsletter itself. The channel lets my creativity move in one direction, but writing has unlocked something I didn't know I wanted. There's a specific feeling in putting a piece together on something you actually care about, hoping it lands the way it landed for you, hoping someone reads it and walks away having learned something real instead of just scrolled past it. That's a different kind of building than filming and editing, and I'm into it. Next week I'm writing something about newsletters and businesses, so if that's your world too, keep an eye out.

What are you looking forward too? Send a reply!

Did You Complete Your Goals This Week?

Real quick before you go, be honest with yourself for a second.

what did you actually achieve?

  • Yes, crushed it 🔥

  • Made progress, not all of it ✅

  • Barely moved the needle 😅

  • What goals? I forgot I had them 💀

You can keep this to yourself or you can reach out with your accomplishments or bottle necks.

The Growth Lever (what this issue actually delivers)

This one grows you personally, not through new information but through the question you answered above. A recap only compounds if you actually check whether you did the thing, and a one-click honest answer takes less friction than journaling about it. The mechanism: naming where you actually landed this week, crushed it, partial, or forgot the goal existed, is the first step in the same "track one metric that tells you the truth" idea from the "Do You Have What It Takes" issue. This is that principle applied to the newsletter itself instead of a business.

Do more, never give up, and always stay humble.

See you in the next one!
